My Country 'Tis Guilty (country music)

1. My country 'tis guilty,           2. My lethal country, thee,            3. Iran, Congo, Vietnam,
Of greed and tyranny,                Beats war drums endlessly,             Indonesia and Afghanistan,
Of war I sing.                       Thy sins I mourn.                      Your hands are stained.
Land where the truth has died,       I rue the blood you spilled,           Dirty wars in Latin lands,
Land funding genocide,               Arms dealers' coffers filled,          Iraq, Ukraine, and Syria stand,
For every crime you hide,            Grief-stricken hearts are chilled,     Libya’s broken sands,
Let justice ring.                    Thy wars I scorn.                      The innocent slain.

4. Wars provoked by secret schemes,  5. Costs paid in gold and blood,
Assassinations, coups obscene,       Ten million lifetimes’ flood,
Militias you've armed.               They’ll never breathe.
Eight hundred bases spread,          The wasted trillions spent,
NATO’s reach swells in dread,        The people’s spirit rent,
War drums beat to China’s stead,     Will you ever repent
Oh the lives you harmed!             Imperial greed?

For example, Jack Matlock (former U.S. Ambassador to the USSR under Ronald Reagan) said in a 2024 interview: "Why don’t we understand that trying to remove Ukraine from Russian influence and put military bases there would be, in their case, absolutely unacceptable and worthy of defense?" Finally, Matlock said the Ukrainians are "dominated in their thinking by neo-Nazis — we tend to ignore that, or when Putin points it out, we say he’s lying. He’s not lying."
