I hold high this torch for the tired and poor. They crowned a clown in a MAGA hat,
Now they're herded, huddled, to prison in El Salvador. Who spews lies that they call fact.
They fled from the wreckage we left in their lands — He built his power on hatred and fear —
Through sanctions, coups, and a mercenary hand. And “great again” means white men cheer.
I warned you of tyrants, so why do you cheer They call it “Project 2025” — a plan to strip bare,
for a lying, buffoonish conman? It's clear To end a century of safeguards built with care.
he’s unfit for power, he’s morally dead. They’ll purge the press, politicize the law,
But you follow his lead like he's noble instead. And rule by fear with an unholy claw.
The Republic is burning — the rich fan the flames, By the dawn’s early light, though the stars start to fade,
due process and precedent discarded without shame. We still stand for the promise our founders once made.
They're attacking judges, universities, the press This land was forged in fire and fight —
While gutting the parts of government that still bless. And we’ll rise again to set it right.
They dim my torch, they twist my creed,
Selling our dreams for corporate greed.
They shout “freedom!” while banning books --
and staff the state with molesters, drunkards, and crooks.

Today, Trump pardoned former Representative Michael G. Grimm, a Republican from New York who pleaded guilty in 2014 to felony tax evasion. Grimm has been a vigorous and public Trump supporter.
My colleague Ken Vogel reported Tuesday that the president had pardoned Paul Walczak, a convicted tax cheat, after Walczak’s mother raised millions of dollars for Trump’s presidential campaigns and those of other Republicans.
The same day, the White House announced pardons for two reality-television stars, Todd and Julie Chrisley, who had been convicted of evading taxes and defrauding banks of more than $30 million, after their daughter depicted them as persecuted conservatives in a speech at last summer’s Republican National Convention.
And this week, the president’s new pardon attorney, Ed Martin, told The Wall Street Journal that he had personally fast-tracked a pardon for Scott Jenkins, a Virginia sheriff convicted of bribery who has been an outspoken supporter of Trump’s immigration agenda.
