Wouldn't it be great if there were a God? I'd be full of joy and could let down my guard. Death wouldn't scare me, and neither would loss. I'd relax and surrender it all to the Boss. Jehovah, or Jesus, or Allah, or Brahma. Wouldn't matter to me, or even nirvana! As long as It saved me, and made me feel joy. With a minimum of rules that make me annoyed. But is there something other than faith and grace, A closer connection, beyond the rat race? No need for commandments or rituals tight, Just love and compassion to guide through the night. A world where we're kind, without fear of a hell, Where grace isn't granted by whom we can't tell. We'd live for each other, with hearts open wide, In a place where our spirits don't need to divide. So whether there's a God or just something unknown, I'll live for the love, let that light be shown. For joy doesn't come from Heaven above. It's right here on Earth when we choose to love.
