Conservatives like to claim that socialism always fails. Not true. But one reason it often fails is: whenever a quasi-socialist country appeared in the last 100 years, the U.S. bombed it, sanctioned it, or tried to overthrow it. Venezuela was thriving -- until the U.S. imposed brutal, choking sanctions.
